Sound formation takes place in this area, which is called sinus area. At the same time, this area also ensures decreasing of the weight of the skull. These cavities may sag down over time. Although this sagging is considered to occur as a result of natural aging of the body, it may cause problems in cases where the patient needs implant.

This sagging can be removed by a comfortable and reliable sinus surgery operation, and then the implants needed by the patient can be made.

Sinus surgery can be performed in two ways, closed or open. The treatment using open method is performed by directly reaching the sinus membrane and removing the membrane. In the closed sinus surgery method, the amount of bone is important. The sinus is reached from the area where implant will be made and the membrane is removed and the pieces taken from the patient's bone or an artificial material are placed. Sinus surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia in line with the method to be selected.

The aim of sinus surgery is to reshape the sagging sinus cavities and then to apply implant treatment for the edentulous (toothless) areas comfortably and effectively. Thus, sufficient amount of bone is provided for implants (special titanium screws) that are completely placed inside the bone.

Although sinus surgery is a comfortable and reliable operation, it must be performed by an experienced and well educated dentist in this field. Although sinus surgery is performed in parallel with the implant treatment, this procedure is much more difficult than the classical implant procedure.

After the application, the patient must not eat or drink anything for the first two or three hours, and then must eat food with the non-treated side during the first 24 hours. Therefore, we usually recommend our patients to consume liquid foods during this period. However, it is important that the patient must not apply pressure during nasal cleaning after this operation and must keep the mouth open while sneezing not to create a pressure inside.

Anatomik olarak azı dişlerimizin yakınında yer alan maksiller yani anatomik boşluklar, üst çenenin üzerinde yer alırlar.
